PE

Our vision at St Dunstan’s is to provide high quality physical education and school sport through personal challenge and intra-sport competitions between themselves and other schools that will lead to life-long participation.

PE plays a vital role in promoting physical activities and a healthy lifestyle in a positive and enjoyable way for all our pupils. Our curriculum aims to develop and challenge pupils’ abilities in a range of physical activities and sports – helping them to develop their personal fitness and learn important life skills such as teamwork, honesty and perseverance.

PE lessons range from Dance and Gymnastics, to developing an understanding of a range of team games and their related skills as well as Swimming.  Some lessons are led by specialist sports coaches and Gymnastics in taught by specialist PE teachers from Bishop Challoner Sports College.

Teachers provide additional extra-curricular PE opportunities, such as participation in regular School Games Competitions and Play Leaders Programme – where Year 5 children are trained to lead activities at lunchtimes.
