Reading is at the heart of all of our learning.
Our hope is that by embedding our learning in high quality texts, we can foster curiosity, spark discussion and celebrate a love of story and community engagement.
Our pupils, as well as our staff, value the power of reading and find great pleasure in reading a book in their spare time. We hope that our enthusiasm for reading is evident around the school: in our conversations with children about what the staff are reading, in conversations with the children about the books that the children are reading themselves, in book reviews and recommendations, as well as our exciting class texts and engaging class libraries. We hope this helps to build enthusiasm in our children, extending well beyond the classroom.
To continue to promote our love of reading, our staff, pupils and guests wanted to share their love of reading with you and share their favourite books with you too. We hope you enjoy them- maybe you will even find a book to add to your 'must read' pile.
Make sure you check back in future for new videos!

Why do I love reading?
By Mrs Gray
I love the way an author can pick the perfect word and place it on the page to make a sentence skip or a character come to life, to create a mood or a mystery.
I love feeling like I'm part of an adventure.
I love living it through the words on the page.
I love that it lives on in my imagination long after I've closed the book.
I love the way a book can teach me about people and places, and times long past.
I love that I can be inspired and uplifted by another's imagination.
I love the way it makes me feel.
Read...feel...imagine...explore
Go on...
Read.
My favourite book is The English Patient by Michael Ondaatje
My favourite children's book is We're going on a Bear Hunt by Micael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury
