Reception Applications to start school in September 2027

Children start school in September after their fourth birthday. 

1.  Apply online to Birmingham Schools Reception Admissions                                  

2.  Complete and return our school's Supplementary Information Form (below) to the school office with evidence of your child's baptismal certificate if they are a Catholic child.  Only complete applications will be accepted. Please remember to complete both processes.

• Closing date for applications: 15 January 2027
• Offers will be made on: 16 April 2027
• Online applicants who submit their application using a valid email address will receive an offer from Birmingham City Council by email on 16 April 2027. Parents/carers who submit an online application without a valid email address will receive an offer letter, posted on 16 April 2027, which should be delivered by the end of that week. Finally, please remember that you do not need an internet connection at home. You can apply online from any device with internet access.

Nursery Applications

Nursery Applications to start in September 2027

Children start nursery in September after their third birthday.

1.  Complete and return our Nursery application form (below) to the school office, with evidence of your home address and your child's birth and baptismal certificates.  Only complete applications will be accepted.

• Closing date for applications: 10th February 2027
• Offers will be made: 24th February 2027

Government Free Childcare Entitlement

St Dunstan's Catholic School offers three full days of nursery provision (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8.50 – 3.15 pm), funded by the Government's 15-hour universal entitlement.  If your child is eligible for 30 hours of free childcare, you can use the remaining 15 hours of 'extended entitlement' with another provider.

Year 6 Transition to Secondary School September 2027 

Applications for secondary school entry in September 2027 must be made online, via Birmingham City Council.  The online portal opens at 9:00 am on 1 September 2026. The closing date is at 11:59 pm on 31 October 2026.

Applications received after the statutory closing date (31 October 2026) for secondary school transfers will only be considered after applications received on time have been processed. Late applications will be processed after 1 March 2027.

Late applicants are less likely to secure a place at one of their preferred schools for their child, as most schools in Birmingham fill to their published admissions numbers with on-time applicants who meet their admissions criteria.

Remember to list 6 different secondary schools on your child's online application.
